Francine Houben

Francine Houben earned her MSc in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Delft University of Technology, in the Netherlands. She is the founder and creative director of Mecanoo architecten. Her work ranges from theatres, universities, office buildings and libraries to neighborhoods, housing, masterplans and parks. Mecanoo treats each project as a unique design statement embedded within its cultural setting, place and time, and orchestrated specifically for the people who use it. Houben has held professorships at the Delft University of Technology as well as at Yale University and Harvard University in the US.
